Moventia Solidaria team runs Magic Line

For the second year in a row, the Moventia Solidaria team took part in the 20K Magic Line run from Vallvidrera to Barcelona Cathedral yesterday. The route gives runners the chance to take in some marvellous views of Barcelona from the Sant Pere Màrtir and El Xiprers viewpoints in Collserola and the Montjuïc viewpoint in Miramar. Running along the streets of Barcelona on a sunny day and for a good cause is an incredible experience.

More people joined the team this year and they described the experience as follows: “a huge personal challenge, but doing it for a good cause makes it even more enriching and motivates you”, “I was able to meet people from the company I didn’t know before and share a very special day with them”, “it was fantastic. I’ll definitely do it again”.

The Moventia Solidaria team managed to raise almost 1,600 euros this year. Why not join the team yourself next year and help us increase that figure?

The Magic Line is a charity event organised by San Juan de Dios to raise money for the most vulnerable people in society.

Moventis successfully launches the transport on-demand service in Sant Cugat

Since last Tuesday 17th December Sant Cugat has been able to rely on Shotl, an on-demand transport service, as a reinforcement to the L10 bus line between Can Trabal, Buscarons and Pg. Del Caqui. The Shotl service is available from 7:00 21:00 on weekdays, while line L10 only runs from 7:30, 8:00, 8:30 and 9:00.

This new on-demand service can be requested via the Shotl app or through the phone number 672 040 375. Each request must be carried out between 10 and 20 minutes before the desired departure time. Moventia presents new intercity transport service in Mallorca

  • The company has been awarded the tender for the western region of the island, including such important municipalities as Palma, Magaluf and Palmanova
  • A fleet of 55 buses (50 CNG and 5 electric hybrid) will be used to launch new routes running more often

Calvià Town Hall was the location chosen to present the new intercity service for the western region of Mallorca this morning. The President of the Regional Government of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol, and the Chairman of Moventia (the bus route operator), Miquel Martí, were accompanied by the Regional Councillor for Mobility and Housing, Marc Pons, the Managing Director of Movilitat, Jaume Mateu, and the Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez.

A number of the improvements to be offered by the service were highlighted during the course of the presentation, such as the reduced journey times on some lines, including the routes connecting the regional capital – Palma – with Port de Andratx and Palma with Peguera. The addition of new routes was also highlighted, such as the one connecting Santa Ponça, Andratx and Valldemossa.

In turn, Francina Armengol said “a very important qualitative and quantitative leap was necessary to guarantee our citizens’ mobility rights”. In the same regard, Marc Pons added that this new service “represents a terrestrial mobility model change in Mallorca”. Miquel Martí expressed satisfaction with being able to offer the new service on the island, where the company already operates the Emilio Seco discretionary services and four tourist trains.

A total of 55 buses (50 compressed natural gas and 5 electric hybrid) will be used to provide the service. Furthermore, a gas refuelling station will be installed in the municipality of Calvià as well as two electric charging stations. A number of stops will also be improved while other new ones will be added.

TRAM and Moventia renew agreement with Sant Joan de Déu to guarantee mobility for the homeless

The support from Moventia and Tramvía de Barcelona in Sant Joan de Déu directly benefits over 500 people, men and women aged 18 to 65, in the process of regaining their personal independence.

The entities involved believe that mobility is one of the key aspects that are essential in combating social exclusion.

TRAM and Moventia have renewed their support for the project to provide mobility access to the homeless served by the social services of Sant Joan de Déu Serveis Socials – Barcelona. This partnership, which forms part of the actions being taken by the two businesses as socially responsible companies, represents a contribution of 60,000 euros to provide public transport to the people supported by various social service programmes.

Specifically, this help will be directly received by over 500 men and women aged between 18 and 65 who are helped every year by Sant Joan de Déu Serveis Socials – Barcelona through its programmes. The partnership was renewed at an event held at the Casa Orlandai Cultural Association attended by the Vice-Chair of Corporate, Internal and Institutional Communication of Moventia, Silvia Martí; the Chairman of TRAM, Felip Puig; the Managing Director of TRAM, Humberto López Vilalta; the Director of Sant Joan de Déu Serveis Socials – Barcelona, Salvador Maneu; and the Director of Obra Social Sant Joan de Déu, Oriol Bota.

During the event, the representatives from the two companies exchanged ideas with someone who had been helped at the Hort de la Vila residential inclusion centre, benefited directly from the project and now lives independently, as well as a social worker from the centre, allowing them to discuss the importance for the homeless of being able to access public transport in their day-to-day life.

The conversation highlighted that public transport is an essential tool that enables people to engage in daily life, such as studying, working or maintaining a social network, and especially for the homeless needing to access various public resources throughout the city of Barcelona and its metropolitan area. Furthermore, access to transport allows them to enjoy additional activities that directly impact their recovery because they strengthen social and community ties.

Comments were also made at the meeting about the positive impact of the project on employability: in 10 months (January to October 2019), the employment rate rose by 12%, enabling 42% of the people receiving this support to have a job by the end of the programmes. In this period, there has also been a 15% increase in people with a financial income (it should be noted that there was an increase this year in the number of people with a financial income visiting these centres, due to an increase in benefits). In total, 76% of the people who are helped leave with financial resources.

Sant Joan de Déu Serveis Socials – Barcelona, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, seeks to help the homeless recover from their situation through people-focused comprehensive care and accompaniment along their path to regaining complete independence. It is a benchmark service in this sector in Barcelona.

Specifically, the organisation helps over 500 people every year. According to the latest diagnosis report by XAPSLL (Network of Homeless Support Services), this figure represents 14% of all homeless in the city. In turn, Obra Social Sant Joan de Déu seeks social improvement and channels charity action by society towards various charity projects and centres. It also conducts awareness programmes and offers administrative support to other Sant Joan de Déu centres in terms of fundraising.

By signing this partnership deal, which forms part of the actions being undertaken by the two entities as socially responsible companies, TRAM and Moventia are joining forces and aligning values in terms of commitment to society and people, as well as the promotion of sustainable and safe mobility, with the values upheld by Sant Joan de Déu. Hence, they are providing access to mobility for the homeless through an economic contribution that will enable the cost of the transport passes used by these people during the year to be fully funded.

The project, promoted by Sant Joan de Déu Serveis Socials – Barcelona, is aimed at offering free access to the use of public transport in the city of Barcelona and surrounding areas to the homeless being looked after by the various direct support programmes operated by the organisation so they can attend their training, employment or job search activities, medical appointments, regain their network of social and family relationships, engage in socialisation support activities (including leisure and cultural activities) and any other type of procedure or activity coordinated with the social workers of Sant Joan de Déu to help them take back control of their life.

Moventia continues to support multiple sclerosis

Unlike previous years, the presentation will now include a small cocktail event at which the foundation and Ignasi Blanch, illustrator for the poster this year, will explain to both sponsors and companies what the foundation does and how and where the money that is raised will be used. Several actors and athletes will also join the cause. One of these guests will be the famous chef, Nando Juvany.

Moventia supports Enriqueta Villavecchia Foundation for its 30th anniversary

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the Enriqueta Villavecchia children’s oncology Foundation is offering a commemorative concert on Thursday, 9 May, that will be supported by Moventia.

The concert will be performed by the Palau de la Música Chamber Choir at the Basílica de la Sagrada Familia from 20:00 and, according to the organisers, will be attended by some 2,300 people.

Through this support, Moventia is once again demonstrating its commitment to society and people – two of the key cornerstones of the company’s CSR policy.

9 countries in two years

After just 2 years on the market, Shotl is now fully operational in Germany, Spain, France, Finland, Switzerland, UK, Italy, Portugal, and the United States.

Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) is an emerging type of flexible transportation in which vehicles are able to adjust their route in real-time and in response to demand; instead of following a fixed route or predetermined timetable. In order to run smoothly, and to best serve every passenger effectively, a fleet of vehicles should be able to pick-up and drop-off passengers in locations that are as close as possible to their original and final destination, Shotl technology is making this possible.

Since March 2017, Shotl’s platform has been revolutionizing DRT, as it is able to match multiple passengers headed in the same direction with an available vehicle. This innovative software empowers transport operators and municipalities, helping them to make better use of their transportation assets along low-ridership routes; by bolstering services with on-demand buses.

The implementation of Shotl technology has helped to provide a better overall supply of public transportation services in areas with very low demand; localities where regular bus services are not affordable, such as rural and suburban neighborhoods. Right now, pilot schemes in both Valencia (Spain) and Lisbon (Portugal) are helping to bring improved service and accessibility to passengers with physical disabilities. The function of the transportation authorities in these cases is to dispense a social service, as opposed to developing a strictly business-oriented solution.

In the space of just two years, the Shotl platform has been adopted in 9 different countries and is rapidly becoming an essential tool for:
  • Public transportation companies that are interested in improving operations.
  • City planners who are willing to offer innovative transport initiatives to their citizens.
  • Taxi dispatchers seeking new shared business models.
  • Business parks and college campuses providing internal transport for employees and students.
The Shotl team is looking to partner with transport operators and city authorities all over the world. We can help in delivering innovative solutions that make sustainable mobility a reality. By providing all the necessary technology, knowledge, and technical assistance we are able to make transportation services more flexible, accessible, energy-efficient and cost-effective.

If you’re interested in finding out more about the Shotl on-demand bus platform or if you want to arrange a meeting with one of our associates, please contact us at hello@shotl.com.

At Shotl we are proud of our mission and we’re firmly focused on creating a new type of mobility that’s able to free our cities from cars. Because sharing is better than owning, let’s build safer and healthier streets.

Moventia supporting research on Alzheimer’s Disease

Faithful to its values and Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, Moventia actively participates and collaborates with over 50 non-profit organisations. On this occasion, it is pleased to announce its membership of the Patronage Council of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation. Moventia has made a contribution that will be donated in full to the Clinical Research on the Prevention of Dementia Unit, specifically the Alpha Study.

At a recent visit by Miquel and Sílvia Martí, Chairman and Secretary of the Board of Directors, to the innovative installations owned by the foundation, its Director, Jordi Camino, wished to share and highlight the objectives and details of the research being conducted by the Alpha Study:

“We know that the damage caused to the brain by Alzheimer’s Disease may have silently begun up to 20 years before the first symptoms appear. We need to anticipate this, study what happens to the brain years before Alzheimer’s Disease develops. Our goal is to take action before it is too late and the damage is already irreversible”.

For this reason, Moventia is pleased and proud to be taking part in such a socially important initiative at a global level, in which the figures speak for themselves:

– 2,734 volunteer children of people with Alzheimer’s Disease
– 50 professionals
– 9,891 visit hours
– 10,892 samples to the Biobank
– 78,963 cognitive tests
– 421 magnetic resonance scans

We remain committed to research and its success for contributing to a better society!
